/ Norske banditter:

We wanted to do something different with this drop. Something conceptual. We´ve long wanted to explore designs based on iconic figures considered bandits and criminals by some and heroes or victims of circumstance by others.

The lines can be thin. For instance, Che Guevara was labeled a thug and a terrorist by south American governments in the 50´s, but the people and history has given him titles like revolutionary, freedom fighter and liberator. It´s all a matter of perspective.

We wanted to look to our own nation of Norway to try to find some interesting bandits from our history. Boy did we find them. We picked three fascinating characters for this drop but there are many more to choose from.

We´ve made designs based on the following three people;

Gjest Baardsen (1791-1849):

A Norwegian produced fictional film from 1939 based on Baardsen´s life.

Famed Norwegian actor Helge Jordal sings and talks about Baardsen (in Norwegian)

Johannes Sigfred Andersen (1898-1970)
(Aka “Gulosten”/”The yellow cheese”)

A conversation between historians about “Gulosten” (in Norwegian)

A lecture about “Gulosten” (also in Norwegian)

Pål Enger (1967-)

A mini-documentary telling the story of Enger stealing paintings by Edvard Munch (in English)

An episode of the series “Stories from Norway” by Norwegian comedians, Ylvis brødrene. This is a funny interpretation of the story of Enger stealing Munch´s “Scream”. (in Norwegian and English)
